A poetry book had been released by junior learners in the Khmer literacy school Liger. All the masterpieces (all the poems) were made by students of Liger seniors. One poem I wrote about being happy.
It’s unlike any other job we all did during the day to be happy every day. It’s a job we don’t have to tell anyone to do. Also, I’m a person who likes to be happy about the topic.
You’ve ever cooked a meal from a recipe, you will have noticed they come with serving amounts, in fact, this number can be off, and you’ll end up with either less or more food than you anticipated. A number of things can take an account for this difference – food spillage prior to cooking, leaving ingredients too long on the stove top, using the wrong measuring cup, and so forth.
The similar can happen at whatever point we have an experiment in the chemistry lab to make a compound. We first make a calculation for how much of a compound we’ll end up with, in fact, these calculation are made under ideal conditions. They don’t account for experimental errors or personal errors of the experimenter. In the end, your prediction is often different from what you have actually made.
In Chemistry, we have learned about theoretical yield, which is the amount of the product calculated from the limiting reactant. The limiting reactant is the reactant in the chemical reaction that limits the amount of product that it can produce. The actual yield is the actual amount of the product, which the experiment produces.
The difference between theoretical yield and actual yield can be calculated by using percent yield, which we can use this formula:
In order to use this formula, the theoretical yield and actual yield need to have the same unit. If the actual yield in gram, the theoretical yield also need to be in gram. If the actual yield in mole, the theoretical yield also need to be in mole. If one has a different unit, we need to perform a conversion if we are giving one measurement in term of the unit.
We had conducted an experiment (S’more Lab). In order to make this S’more, we need substance, so teacher provide us Cracker, Chocolate, and Marshmallow.
Substance
Symbol
Graham Cracker (half of a cracker)
Gc
Marshmallow
M
Chocolate Piece (individual piece of chocolate)
Cp
S’more (2 crackers, 3 pieces of chocolate, 1 marshmallow)
Gc2MCp3
We need to follow a certain step to create S’more
Step 1: Balance the equation
Cp + M + Gc → Gc2MCp3 to 3Cp + M +2Gc → Gc2MCp3
Step 2: Calculate the theoretical yield
In the experiment, I weight the substance. I got Graham Cracker (Gc) 8 grams, Marshmallow (M) 5 grams, Chocolate Pieces (Cp) 9 grams. I added all up, it has 30 grams of the substance
Step 3: Roast your marshmallows and chocolate on the Bunsen burner
Step 4: Putting the marshmallows and the chocolate between the cracker
Step 5: The ACTUAL (experimental) mass of one s’mores: 28.5 grams
When an element get heated with the flame, heat will excite the electrons in the atom. This allows the electron to travel from the ground states to a higher energy level. So the atom becomes unstable and it will release energy to move into it ground stand back. In this releasing energy will match wavelength that it will energy emit and it also corresponds to the color of the visible light in a form of electromagnetic radiation.
I had an explanation about the concept of the idea with word now how can we see it with our eye, so we need to conduct an experiment that called the flame test lab in our chemistry class.
In the experiment, we had six different compounds of salt (Copper, Strontium, Barium, Lithium, Calcium, and Potassium). Each of them was placed on a popsicle stick that will be heated on the flame of a burner. All of the salt compounds emitted different colors and then we find the wavelength that corresponds to the color of the salt compound that was identifies.
Nevertheless, in an experiment, they would not be conducted with a perfect resolve. One possible source of error can be how we observed the color. Color is really tough to identify with our eye. This would lead us to an inaccurate of the color, that would affect the wavelengths we would find at the end. In the next experiment, I would avoid this error by using colorimeter can be used to accurately measure the wavelength.
On the first two weeks of the school year, we did PSAT Bootcamp. We had Amanda and Kim to be our mentors. For the two weeks we work with Kim and Amanda, they taught us many skill and strategy about SAT. I found the Reading and Language section was the hardest subject that blocking me from getting a high score when they took the test for the second English learner.
We took three PSAT over two weeks of practice with a website called Khan Academy, I can see really clear the improvement that I made when working with Kim and Amanda beside learning by myself. Also, I use the strategies that I learn with them to improve my score. After the first two weeks of the school year, in math class, we are still practicing for PSAT, by that we have independent time to work on some small subject like complex number and circle theorem. So that we can extend to a rage of math knowledge beside learning about the strategies.
Dianna of the mascara is certainly wondrously crafted by the gods themselves she is incredibly strong and agile quick enough to matrix-style visualize bullets and block them just being fast and just being strong isn’t enough to do what Wonder Woman does she have to be really smart too.
Wonder Woman’s abilities have been to use her indestructible to deflect incoming projectiles in most cases bullets. It seems straightforward to identify the bullet and block it but it’s not that easy and that’s where the wonder comes in. To block the bullet, we need the reaction time to do so and you need to be strong enough to withstand the impact so first what does blocking a bullet feels like well right.
Right before impact; bullet has two-quantities that can help us determine what the force would feel like when you block a bullet the first is momentum (MV) then Kinetic Energy (1/2MV^2).
Before we get into Dianna shoot blocking, we need to understand the feel of blocking a shot. Base in the movie of Wonder Woman, the German using the gun call Gewehr 98, that had a bullet weight of 9.9-grams with a velocity of 878 m/s and with time travel of 1/24 s because in the sense of Wonder Woman movie it takes about that time.
So we can use the F=MA to measure how much force did Diana had felt every time she blocked a shot of a Gewehr 98. Base on the calculation she needs to experience 210 N every time. F = MV/T, F = 9.9*878/1/24 s, F = 210 N.
The kinetic energy of bullets is an important metric weaponry because it describes how far a bullet will go how far it will penetrate into some object before it is slowed down by the forces impressed upon it but Dianna’s braces are impenetrable so instead we are gonna use momentum which describes how long it will take a bullet to be slowed down to zero by some force based.
She can block a bullet without reacting to and so her reaction time would have to be incredibly fast. War scene it is about 800m with a reaction time of 0.9s. With beach scene is less than 100m she had a reaction time of 0.1s. It the scene she saves a person with 5-meters away, she had a reaction time of 0.01s. That is twice as fast as our brain can tell us to move our limbs. Blocking bullet like Wonder Woman it not just require strength or speed in have to be a gigantic physics nerd.
In my English literacy class, we learned about Greek mythology. In this class, we also had Greek mythology project that every student need to complete. Each student was assigned to a god or a goddess and need to research closely about the god that they got. Below is my research paper about my god.
Greek name/ Role/ Power
Aphrodite, The Ancient Greek goddess of sexual love and beauty, identified with Venus by the Romans. The Greek word aphros means “foam” Aphrodite was, in fact, widely worshipped as a goddess of the sea and of seafaring; she was also honoured as a goddess of war, especially at Sparta, Thebes, Cyprus, and other places, However, she was known primarily as a goddess of love and fertility and even occasionally preside over marriage. The secret power of her is transformative power–Love as magical powers of transformation that could cause both gods and mortals to do as she bid them.
Like all the Greek Olympic gods, Aphrodite was immortal and very powerful. Her special powers were those of love and desire. She had a belt that had the power of love, it causes other to fall in love with the wearer. Some time other Greek goddesses, such as Hera, would borrow the belt from time to time. The belt had the ability to cause fighting couples to fall in love again.
Family/ Relatives
There are many of the gods were in love with Aphrodite, Zeus was afraid that there going to be a great battle would break out over her. Then he arranged a marriage between Aphrodite and Hephaestus. What was funny about this Greeks as Hephaestus was a lame and ugly god.
These are all the known relatives of Aphrodite. Her mother was Dione and her father was Zeus. In the other story had been told that Aphrodite was born from the white foam produced by the severed genitals of Uranus(Heaven) after his son Cronus threw them into the sea. This is the two-story of Aphrodite birth that haven clarify. She had three main siblings Athena, Hera, and Helen. Aphrodite had a husband named Hephaestus but she cheated on him with Ares. She had nine children named Anteros, Eros, Deimos, Phobos, Harmonia, Eryx, Hermaphrodites, Priapus, and Aeneas. Aphrodite also had many consorts within the consort also had children with them too like Hephaestus, Ares: Eros, Phobos, Deimos, Harmonia, Pothos, Anteros, and Himeros, With Hermes: Hermaphroditus, With Poseidon: Rhodes, Eryx, With Dionysus: Peitho, The Graces, Priapus, With Anchises: Aeneas.
Of Aphrodite’s mortal lovers, The most important were the Trojan shepherd Anchises, by whom she became the mother of Aeneas, and the handsome youth Adonis, who was killed by a boar while hunting and was lamented by women at the festival of Adonis. the cult of Adonis had underworld features, and Aphrodite was also connected with the dead at Delphi (ancient town and seat of the most important Greek temple and oracle of Apollo).
Aphrodite had many siblings like Aeacus, Angelos, Apollo, Ares, Artemis, Athena, Dionysus, Eileithyia, Enyo, Eris, Hebe, Helen of Troy, Hephaestus, Hercules, Hermes, Minos, Pandia, Persephone, Perseus, Rhadamanthus, the Graces, the Horae, the Litae, the Muses, the Moirai, or the Titans, the Cyclopes, the Meliae, the Erinyes (Furies), the Giants, the Hekatonkheires.
Symbols/ Physical appearance
Aphrodite was known as the highly attractive young god who dressed stylish and loved to wear jewelry. Her eyelashes were curled and she had a constant smile on her cute face. She had a tender neck and symbolized the feminine beauty. ♀ Aphrodite’s symbols were the girdle (which she was using to compel love), the seashell and the mirror. It is said that the female gender symbol is likely to represent the mirror of Aphrodite, the top half of the symbol representing the actual mirror and the bottom half it handles. The sacred animal was the dove.
This the meaning of Aphrodite symbols, Her symbols were Dolphin, Rose, Scallop Shell, Myrtle, Dove, Sparrow, Girdle, Mirror, & Swan.
What is the meaning?
Dolphin:Prayerfulness, Harmony, Gentleness, intelligence, playfulness, friendship and generosity. Dolphins are very social animals.
Rose: rose is ancient symbols of love and beauty. “Rose” means pink or red in a variety of languages(such as Romance languages, Greek, and French).
Scallop Shell: some versions of the birth of Aphrodite have her washing ashore on a large scallop shell. The scallop shell may also refer to the female genitals, as the ancient Greek word for scallop, kteis, may mean either.
Myrtle: The myrtle-tree and myrrh bush were sacred to Aphrodite because it was from one of these plants that her beloved Adonis was born.
Dove: Grace and beauty.
Sparrow: Creativity, Joy, and Protection.
Girdle (Belt): Sensuality and irresistible beauty.
Mirror: Self-image or outer beauty
Swan: Pure Beauty.
Celebration
This the festival that celebrates Aphrodite. The festival Aphrodite is Aphrodisia which is celebrated in Athens and Corinth. Aphrodite is not a patron god of any city or area. There isn’t any known information on the celebration. That’s all there is about this celebration.
History/ War/ Myth
When the goddess Eris was turned away from a party, she tossed a golden apple among the other goddesses that said: “To the Fairest” on it. The goddesses Hera, Aphrodite, and Athena all wanted the apple. Zeus Decided that a mortal name Paris would decide who deserves the apple.
The three goddesses visited Paris and he had to decide who was the most beautiful. The three goddesses offered him with something, Hera offered him with power, Athena offered him wisdom and fame, and Aphrodite offered him love with the most beautiful mortal woman in the world, Helen. Paris had chosen Aphrodite. However, when Paris stole Helen from a Greek king and took her to Troy, he started the Trojan War.
Aphrodite sided with the Trojans in the Trojan War. This was because both Paris and her son, the hero Aeneas, were Trojans. She also persuaded the god of war, Ares, to support Troy during the war. Aphrodite was very involved in the war, protecting both Paris and Aeneas during battle. At one point she even gets injured and has to return to Mount Olympus for healing.
Fun Fact
Aphrodite is known to have flings with other Gods, and mortals like Ares, Adonis, & Anchises. She is married to Hephaestus, and has over 20 children!
She is sometimes called the lady of Cyprus
The Greeks would not sacrifice a pig to Aphrodite as one tale tells how a wild boar killed a mortal she loved named Adonis
Aphrodite day of the week is Friday (which is the day that I was born

In Khmer Class, I had created a presentation of the coming up even call Pjum Ben. In this presentation, I need to research about this event and learn from the event too. After we research we doing a presentation to our classmate for understanding and learn how people don’t the research differently.
Physics is not just a study of forces or motion, but math also has a role in physics as well as the living thing nonliving thing can involve inside a word of physics. We also learned to apply formulas to an exercise. It is challenging since I always have to be organized in solving the problems. I like that there is a variety of ways that can be done in the solving process, When I’m not sure about some problems I can try many ways to solves the problems successfully.
we were always told to mind our parents and that adults know best. We were taught to obey and believe that we adults were superiors; however, this wasn’t always the case. As a 3-D designer, I have learned skills that so many adults lack and would love to acquire. At the young age of fifteen, I have recognized that I have potential to learn like an adult. I was really glee with knowledge and skill development at a young age.
When I was a kid, I adept in architectural drawing, I was really passionate about that career. Also, that was my family and my grandfather, that passed away when I was 10-year-olds, wanted me to do it as my career. I remembered the last quote, grandfather, he told me with the last breath, Khmer(ចង់អ្វីធ្វើអ្វីតាមចិត្ត ជីវិតនិងមានផ្លូវដើរជារៀងរហូត), “Do what you want to do, life will always have ways to choose”. After he died for a few week I got a scholarship to Liger Leadership Academy.
Then I was introduced by my teacher, Max, when I was 11 years old, in the Liger Leadership Academy. In that year, I just got my new computer, and I was really excited with the concept that I could learn from that computer. Instead, my teacher, Max, he introduces to a new software called, “Blender”. I was a kid that adapt to learn new, with full effort than I just love to work with 3d.
In life, I always have other say the bad thing to me like they just don’t understand about my feeling. This guy wants his freedom to do like other want to do. I’m really enjoy thinking about this quote, “First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win”. So I did win over that people with the try, work, and help. As I work I always want to make my father dream to come true. My father he really wants me to learn this subject because he doesn’t have a chance to learn. He had motivated me as always to try and never give up on my dream. I love him so I really want him to feel really happy for his life. I had made him cry for me since I was a baby until now. So now it’s time to pay him back what he wants.
I really excited with the skills that I have in the past few years, I try my best to make really cool and creative design to help other in the emotion or having fun just watch some of the design that I did. I have learned how to make a short animation, a still picture, and I can sculpt person face into 3-d, but I’m not sure that I can make the face extremely the same for the amateur skill in the blender. I think I can try out to make it the best with what I have learned and know.
As an adult they have weakness and strength in life, some adult has more experience than other. Some kid also has more experience than a large amount of adult too. If the adult and kid working together they can share their knowledge with each other, I have an experience when I was learning on my holiday with my mother friend, she was a teacher the know one way of doing algebraic and I know the other ways of doing algebra but we get the same answer so we had share what I learn to other in exchange for some other ways. Young students sometimes have more skill than the adult.
I had faced so many challenges in the past few years with the skills that I’m working with. I had more homework to work on for school, so I don’t have much time to practice my skills for so long. Something the computer is too slow, I can’t work on anything with the slow computer. Sometimes I just can’t keep my motivation going while I have more thing to work and more idea to think about. I always think about anything that I don’t really need to think. I just can’t stop thinking about that, I always want to find ways to stops that from me.
This skill has now become my passion, it had taught me how to become a person that has the determination and hard worker by the challenge I had faced in the past few years. I constantly committed to the craft of design and improving my skill. This skill could lead me to a great future because Cambodia is a developing country so they really need a 3d modeler for the building that will build in Cambodia.
