In Khmer Class, I had created a presentation of the coming up even call Pjum Ben. In this presentation, I need to research about this event and learn from the event too. After we research we doing a presentation to our classmate for understanding and learn how people don’t the research differently.
Virtual Marine Scientist Lab Report
Introduction
As we know that people need a correct temperature to live so does the marine organism in order to live. In the ocean, the current temperature is about 8-degree Celsius. When the temperature is raising so the organism will have a hard life to live in. In this experiment, I chose Mussel (Mytilus). It is a type of bivalve mollusk it a group of organisms that protects by two shells. This species never live in isolation (Alone). We can find them on the rocky shores of coastlines, bays and river mouths. Blue mussels need to feed on phytoplankton in order to complete their life-cycle. Blue mussels are one of the classic model species used in climate change research. The hypothesis about the experiment is, “The population of Mussel (Mytilus) will decrease when the temperature is increasing.”
Material & methods
Material:
- Aquarium (tank)
- Mussel (Mytilus)
- Water (8, 12, 16) Celsius
- Food(Phytoplankton)
- Book
- Pen/Pencil
- Thermometer
- pH Meter’
Methods:
Step 1: Put water in the tank 8 calculus in 1 replicate of 3 tanks, 12 calculus in 1 replicate of 3 tanks and 16 calculus in 1 replicate of 3 tank
Step 2: Measure the same pH in 3 replicate
Step 3: Put the Mussel (Mytilus) in the tank
Step 4: Feed food (Phytoplankton) to the Mussel (Mytilus)
Step 5: Take notebook records the data
Results
In the first day, the temperature of 8 Celsius is at 10, 12 Celsius 10 and 16 Celsius is 9 in an average of 3 replicates. On the 5 days, The data show the 8 Celsius have 6.8, 12 Celsius have 6.6, 16 Celsius have 5.7 so the 8 Celsius still the highest. On day 9 The show the 8 Celsius have 4.7, 12The result clearly shows that when the temperature is increased, the population Mussel (Mytilus) will decrease. Celsius have 4.7, 16 Celsius have 3.7 so 8 celsius and 12 celsius have the same density. Day 13 8 Celsius have 3.6, 12 Celsius have 3.5, 16 Celsius have 2.3 so the 8 Celsius still the highest. Day 17 8 Celsius have 2.7, 12 Celsius have 2.4, 16 Celsius have 1.3 so the 8 Celsius still the highest. Day 21 8 Celsius have 1.9, 12 Celsius have 1.7, 16 Celsius have .8 so the 8 Celsius still the highest.
Discussion
The result clearly shows that when the temperature is increased, the population Mussel (Mytilus) will decrease. The result above shows, when the temperature increase, the population of Mussel decrease. In the day 9, the mussel (Mytilus) 8 celsius and 12 celsius have the same density. In another 5 days of collection, the 8 Celsius have the most density of Mussel and 16 Celsius have less Mussel. So people really need to reduce the energy of use on Earth. When we using more energy the carbon dioxide will release more into the atmosphere then the temperature on Earth and in the ocean will increase too. When setting up this experiment again I will change, I will increase day of collection date and add one more temperature is 20 Celsius.
Conclusion
So, in conclusion, the data show that the experiment accepts my hypothesis. In the data show the temperature of 8 Celsius have more density than 12 Celsius and 16 Celsius. So, when the temperature increase, the population of Mussel (Mytilus) will decrease. When the temperature of the world is increasing the density of Mussel (Mytilus) is diminish and the population of the sea star and sun star will diminish too.

Change Cambodia
- Think about change (what things did I notice need to be changed in my country; what solutions did I think about, even if I couldn’t DO the solution?)
- Raise awareness about necessary change (did I talk to others and share my ideas about what needs to be changed; possible solutions? did I talk about that with people? with friends? family?)
- Try to promote and encourage change (did I do my best to teach others/show others/be an example and model of change? did I try to educate others about change? ex: sharations, trips, networking)
- Develop the possibility of change (before change can happen, other things must come first; did you try to “get the ball rolling” or take “baby steps” that come before making a big change?)
- Actually, create change in Cambodia this year
Explanation
In 2016-2017 at Liger Learning Center, we all had created change for every single one of us. Do you know some of the things that I had experienced this year that created change? This some of the thing that I will talk about Game Design and Preventive Health that really stand out to me and it created change in Cambodia. Creating change is one of the ways to improve a country, a change that would not happen if we don’t take action. Taking that chance and doing something with it, it is going to improve society.
In Game Design Exploration my job was to design the board and the pawns for the game. In this job, I was a part of the groups that help change Cambodia by making a board game that will be given to rural government schools all across Cambodia for free. As a Cambodia citizen, and the son of my parents, I get to learn some new software that some of the government students can’t get to learn so I can get to change in Cambodia. In the future, Cambodia can use all of that software to design something good to help Cambodia. In Cambodia, there is one problem in learning: government school teaching is so boring and students have no fun in class. If students have games that can apply to government schools to help their learning it would be really good for the young Cambodians. The game topic is Climate Change and they have questions that they will get to answer the government school curriculum so they can review what they learn and have fun at the same time. In the Game design, we took baby steps to finish it slow and make it as good as possible.
The exploration of Preventive Health really helps me to change Cambodia in a positive way that I can’t think that a lot of change. After a few week of thinking, I realized that the change I make really impact the hold sociality and the people that live on the island health better. The problems that Cambodia is facing right now is health, health is the most important thing that people need in order to live a good person. I was one of the members that involved with the activity that going out to the island of Koh Rong to work with the Song Saa Foundation to teach about health on the island. It really working and people on the island having an understanding how health is a real thing to take care of. I made a play that covers a story that teaches them how to brush teeth, what type of food to eat and some problem that they facing with their teeth. In the same time, we had gone out to the ocean to learn about the most important the health of the marine life. I have taken action on a part of protecting our marine life and working with Song Saa to save, also learn about it to get an understanding how important the health of human and ocean are to the life of the planet. If base on the science behind the ocean is 50% of the oxygen that we breathe comes from the ocean make by the Bioluminescent Plankton that lives in there, if we live on the island surrounded by ocean.
In conclusion, I was helping my country with my full potential and help is one thing I like to do and work with all the time in my life. In the country change is the most important thing that we can have to improve our country. My life If I don’t have any change I would not be one of the Liger students as today. Change help to bring me as a person, I would take as my full potential in the future. Anyone in the world can make a change in a blink of an eye, every day different people have a different change each and every second of life.
Chemistry Lab 3
Observing Different Types of Reactions
Decomposition Reaction
Procedure:
NaHCO3 (s) ——> Na2CO3 (s) + H2O(g) + CO2 (g)
2 NaHCO3 (s) ——> Na2CO3 (s) + H2O(g) + CO2 (g)
Obtain an alcohol burner, a test tube, and a ring stand with a clamp. Put one small scoop of NaHCO 3 in the test tube. Secure test tube with clasp attachment on the ring stand. Light up the alcohol burner. Make sure the flame is heating the bottom of the tube evenly. After 40-60 seconds, light a match and hold it directly above the opening of the test tube. Record observations.
Result:
The match fire is gone and there this and evaluation at the edge of the test tube.
Observation:
There is water at the edge of the test tube when we fire the test tube with
alcohol burner
The baking soda is decreasing it volume
The match fire is gone
Conclusion:
The match fire is gone because they are no oxygen in there. The CO2 is preventing the oxygen to come up.
Single Displacement Reaction
Procedure:
Al + HCl= Alcl3 + H2
2Al + 6HCl= 2Alcl3 + 3H2
Obtain test tube and test tube rack. Take a small piece of aluminum foil and put it into a test tube. Add just enough Hydrochloric acid to cover the small piece of foil. Observe reaction.
Result:
There a bobble coming up
Observation:
- There is bobble coming up
- The aluminum foil sit at the bottom for 4s than it float
- The bobble coming out of the aluminum foil
Conclusion:
The foil has reacted with the hydrochloric and it releasing the CO2 that why there is an oxygen.
Double Displacement
Procedure:
CuSO4 + NaHCO3 —–> CuCO3 + CO2 + H2O + Na2SO4
CuSO4 + 2 NaHCO3 —–> CuCO3 + CO2 + H2O + Na2SO4
Put a small amount of the Cupric Sulfate solution we have made into a test tube. Add a small amount of baking soda. Observe reaction.
Result:
Getting the reaction of the baking soda with the Cupric sulfate to increase the bobble
Observation:
The baking soda changing color
The bobble increase so fast
Have less liquid in there
Conclusion:
The reaction is similar to the single displacement to just it has a different element to react and the double has a faster reaction
Chemistry Lab 2
Electrochemistry Copper Plating
Material
You will need 250 ml beaker, stir rod, alligator clips, D battery, battery holder, cupric sulfate, copper electrode, brass key, dish soap, and water.
Procedure:
Prepare the coin for copper-plating by cleaning it with toothpaste or soap and water. Dry it with a paper towel. Then stir cupric sulfate into 60 ml of hot water until no more will dissolve. Your solution should be dark blue. Let it cool (You made similar solutions for the recrystallization procedure). Using the battery, place the battery in the battery holder. Use one alligator clip to attach the copper electrode to the positive terminal of the battery (now the anode) and the other to attach the key to the negative terminal (now the cathode). Partially suspend the coin in the solution by wrapping the wire lead loosely around the stir rod and placing the pencil across the mouth of the beaker. The alligator clip should not touch the solution. Place the copper electrode into the solution, making sure it doesn’t touch the coin and the solution level is still below the alligator clip. An electrical circuit has now formed and current is flowing. Leave the circuit running for 20-30 minutes, or until you’re happy with the amount of copper on the coin.
Result:
The result that I got is the copper have plat the gold color coin after 2 minutes.
Observation:
The surface of the copper is removed
The coin color changes slowly
Conclusion
It was a really cool to learn about how to colt a thing with another thing. I have to know that gold ring, not all is a real gold. The plate it using electricity for plating thing.
Chemistry Lab 1
Recrystallization
Procedure:
Find the mass of cupric sulfate given to you using a triple beam balance and a weighted boat. Record the mass. Then put cupric sulfate into a 250ml beaker and find the mass of the empty weight boat. Boiling the water, using some warm- hot water from the hot pot add 50 ml to it. Bring the alcohol or Bunsen burner, bring the water to boiling temperature. Then Gently stir the solution until all of the cupric sulfate dissolves.
Purpose: Purify CuSO4 using recrystallization
Result:
The result has shown to me is that the cupric sulfate as a solid state then turns into liquor state.
Observation:
I had seen the cupric sulfate as a crystal turn into the water we use the burner to speed up the dissolving state.
I had seen some salt at the bottom of the beaker
Conclusion:
I have learned how to recrystallization for chemical and learn to think that I have not learned before. The cupric sulfate dissolves faster when we boil it than we stir normally.
Game Design
This exploration is the third round of game design, in the first and second
exploration thinking about the mechanic of the game that employs into government school all around the country. The third think about is how to manufacture the game with less time, save money with a really good quality game. This game will help the government school a better understand the subject by the question that provides that base on the Khmer textbook that they learn every day. They can also release stress when they learning a new concept that they don’t know.

How Are People Using Advertisements?
Gender roles have been used in advertisements all over the world. Some gender roles are used in advertising to make their product look attractive, it effect the viewer by causing them to have less self-confidence.
According to the The New York Times, advertising shows men in negative ways. It’s the way that the advertiser treats men like idiots, foolish, stupid and clumsy and this is how advertising treats men. In the New York Times, gender roles really affect the viewer’s identity in young boys because when they grow up they need a role model to lead them. but the male has been treated poorly. So the young boys follow the footsteps of the male that in the advertisement.
Based on The Huffington Post, advertisements use gender roles to attract customers to take a look and the ads and want to buy the product. The Huffington Post report states the effect on the viewer’s identity by causing them develop an eating disorder. In the article it shows the scale of eating disorders has increased from 1:10 to 1:4 for males. The scale increased really fast over time. These are some of the reasons that eating disorder have increased because they want their body to bulk up. Also they are believe on their culture what they should look like and what they should wear and when they should eat. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, said the children consume seven hours on media a day. Studies have shown that many boy take in those media messages and apply them to their own appearances .
In conclusion, men and kids take advertising too seriously and it causes them problems like men they treated poorly and kids having an eating disorder. The solution to kids is, according to The Huffington Post, we can stop the kids that have problems of eating disorders by making them have a lot more of action or having field trip to get their brain off media for young. So when they get older they didn’t think about the media.
